I do have photos of flowers blooming from the desert floor and from crevices in rocks but I don’t think from concrete or other pavements. I’ll have to look to make sure though.
John I’m sad to say I don’t have any images of flowers coming out of pavement of any human kind. Desert hardpans, from natural rock crevices a few, but none from asphalt or concrete. Sorry about that and thanks for thinking of me. Good luck!
Actually she did, for several minutes, long enough for a few shots plus a video. Then when I was going to change to a longer lens she flew off back to her nest where her chicks were frequently calling wondering where she had gotten to.
That’s always the trouble with having to do a lens change!! Great that you got some video too 😀 I’m getting quite a collection of wild bird footage but I need to master some basic editing techniques! Finding time is always the issue there. I have a few classic clips of the kingfishers that I’m watching 🙂

A photo & travel blog with a difference: Instead of strict focus on photo how-to, gear and the like, I'll pass on knowledge about the places and cultures photographed. I believe the more deeply you come to know a place, the better your pictures will be.
My past careers as science teacher and geologist mean that I can't help but teach about the natural history of photogenic places around the world. But photography is not forgotten. You'll also see practical tips about where and how to photograph the destinations. And once a week, Friday Foto Talk gives photography tips and how-to on a selected topic, for novices on up to expert.
What you won't find here is endless discussion about me braving dangerous weather, terrain or wild animals to get the shot. Nor will there be cheerleading gear talk or marketing pitches. I promise to leave that to other blogs, of which there are many.

That just makes me want to be there!
Thanks Lyle. I also did a video of her chirping back to her chicks in the nest. She’s looking at it across the river in this shot.
Love the photo!
Thank you very much Annette!
Mike, do you have any stock photos of weeds/flowers/plants growing out concrete/bitumen? It seems to be a theme titled Nature (or Life) Finds a Way.

Great. Thanks. I’m plodding through my second book and am beginning to look for images like that.

Cheers Michael, and thanks for the effort. It’s genuinely appreciated.
Oh how exciting 😀 I love the wider angle composition showing her habitat!!
Thanks Sarah! I didn’t have much of a choice since she landed just as I was doing wide-angle shots.
Oh what wonderful happenstance 😀 Did she hang around for long?
