From the recent Painted Hills trip, a couple abstract close-ups that imply I was NOT in a desert.  Actually, the Painted Hills are in a semi-arid area that receives significant amounts of rainfall at times.  In fact, the week I was there some flash-flooding took place in a few drainages where thunderstorms parked overhead for more time than the soil could handle. The weather was cool and Spring-like, with the constant threat that clouds were going to shut your picture-taking down, but with the promise also of providing dramatic skies.  That’s just the sort of weather we photographers love.
