Two vibrant shots from some time ago, one sunrise, one sunset, both within a 45 min. drive from Portland, OR. The top image is a sunrise at one of Portland’s best natural areas, Smith & Bybee Lakes. It’s a great place for peaceful walking and birding, as well as kayaking and canoeing. The bottom is a sunset taken from the top of Angel’s Rest, looking across the foothills of the Cascades in SW Washington. Angel’s Rest is a short drive away from me in the western Columbia River Gorge, perched high up on the Oregon side of the river. The hike is short but steep and takes about an hour to an hour and a half to ascend to the viewpoint.
