Hiked into the upper Salmon River Canyon today, on a wintry afternoon, and Oregon was showing its misty-forested, snowy, cold, wet and beautiful self. Saw some waterfalls I’ve never heard about before. Of course I was down into a rugged canyon with no trails. A bit dangerous there, so I wasn’t into getting close enough to these falls for good shots, and it was starting to get dark. As it was I hiked out part of the way in the dark, with no headlamp. Those hiking poles come in handy to probe the trail in front of you. I’m throwing a flashlight into my camera backpack, and there it’ll stay.
