I think this is one of the coolest wild flowers that grows around the Pacific Northwest.  This one had the perfect curled petals that characterize the flower, and was growing in one of those rare open areas on the mostly forested Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge.  The hike is called Wygant, and is just west of Hood River.  It is not a well-traveled trail at all.
