Went hiking up the Columbia River Gorge, to a place I’ve been many times (but not recently), Hamilton Mtn. It’s on the Washington side, near Beacon Rock, which is where you park. It’s about an 8 mile hike from Hwy 14, but you gain some serious altitude. It was cool and showery, and I was into motoring, so very few photos. In fact, most of the photos I took were at the trailhead and even down by Hwy 14 near my van. This log surprised me because it’s only moss, no small saplings growing from it. So I suppose you could call it a nurse log wannabe, or a nurse log in waiting. Whatever, the moisture in the air and lighting made the green just jump out. Had to use a tripod though.
