Went cross-country skiing today up at Mount Hood, for the first time in quite awhile. I didn’t know if I would get to do this again, let alone in mid-winter conditions. It’s the end of April, and I was just a few hours ago in the heaviest snow of the year. Amazing. I broke trail, but the snow got so heavy and deep it became quite a trudge – that is until I turned my skis downhill over the trail I had created. Then it was pure sweetness, kicking and gliding at speed. A few long and fast tele turns down the beginner Summit Ski Area at Government Camp, and it was all over too quickly.
